Advocacy at Mt. Horeb
What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
Justice is a recurring and constant theme throughout the Bible and is a fundamental expression of Christian discipleship. The Bible speaks frequently of God’s love and compassion for the weak, the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the disenfranchised. The Biblical reference of “justice” is to “make it right.” It is a relational term which encourages us as Christians to live in a loving relationship with God, one another, and all creation.
Our Mt. Horeb family believes that every individual is created in the image of God; therefore, we endeavor to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Mark 12:31). As children of God, we are called to feed the hungry, help the poor and combat social injustices. As followers of Christ, we stand against systemic racism striving for a more just and equitable society where all people have the opportunity to flourish.
We believe that Black lives matter as do the lives of all children of God. It is our hope that every person feels welcomed to our Mt. Horeb Church family.
